Daisy Is Sick...

Our little social butterfly is sick.  Not just sick but gut-wrenching, horrible decision coming sick.

Daisy hasn't felt well for several months now.  Nothing I could put my finger on...just not 'Daisy".  Several trips to Dr. B for x-rays, blood work and just plain old brainstorming yielded nothing.  Until a couple of weeks ago.

We're fortunate to know an exceptional woman named Sarah who does massage for animals and 'listens' to them.  I've known Sarah for many years and have seen her care of animals so many times that I'd never discount anything she tells me about my own....so I called Sarah and booked a massage for Daisy.

Daisy's head hurts.  She can't breathe.  She's tired.

Sarah did not give me a diagnosis....she doesn't do that.  What she told me was that if, after the massage, Daisy starts sneezing with lots of discharge to take her to the ER vet....and ask for a nasal x-ray.

Of course, it happened just as Sarah had predicted....lots of sneezing and lots of snot....

So to the ER vet we go - my stomach in knots.  I knew but didn't want to hear it.  I told them I wanted a nasal x-ray....and to just trust me on this....they weren't sure...there was no discharge by that point.   Please...just take it.

They did.  It's horrible.  I won't share because it's unbelievable how much tissue is gone....the pain she must be in....we've been looking for what's wrong.....and now we know.

Daisy has either a nasal tumor or a colonized fungal infection in her sinuses.

They are both bad.  We will not confirm which it is.  The tests are painful and the treatment for both is worse than the tests.  Her x-ray alone tells us that we will not do any conventional treatments.  Her time with us is short and we want the quality to be as good as she can have.  We will keep her happy by celebrating everyday as Daisy Day until it's time for 'the' decision.

Sadly, it won't be long.

Daisy's most favorite place is the beach!  We made quick plans and set aside a week for a FL trip but just to be sure she gets beach time, we're off the South Padre...in her RV!  No youngs allowed!  Michael stayed home to babysit Oreo,JuneBug and Lula.  Not sure who has the most work cut out for them!

A nice distraction during our over night stop was a meet and greet with RV bloggers/vloggers Keep Your Daydream and Less Junk, More Journey at Austin's Live Oak Brewing Company.

You can see how swollen Daisy's little face is already becoming.  Even though she's sick, being in dad's lap, in the brewery, with people giving her some love....she's in her zone!

A little bit of energy and a smile -- though I know it's partly because she's having more trouble breathing....almost everyday there is a decline.

Beach time and tourist-ing.  Everywhere that Daisy might enjoy, we'd stop and do a short walk.  The humid air was hard on her breathing.  Her lack of appetite was disturbing but understandable.  Who wants to eat when they can't breathe?  Her diet consisted of scrambled eggs, burger bits, cookies (dog and human) and any other thing she would eat.  This was her trip and we're so glad we took her on it.

Now we're back home with time for naps in laps or in the sun....rides in the car....and lots of love and kisses.

Prayers for our little scruffy dog please....and all of her minions too. 💗
