World of the Mouse - Day 2 - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

It's great having friends help you plan a trip like this - you learn all the strategies.

We bought a five park day ticket with park hopper pass and that happened to get us a sixth day for free.  I might not be calling it the correct name but basically it means we can go to any of the parks on six different days and the hopper pass means that we can hop around on each of those days --- not having to spend the whole day at only one park.  A couple of days we didn't take advantage of the hopper pass but a couple we did.   After having experienced Disney now, I'm not sure if I'd spring for the hopper pass again but I was definitely glad we had it for this first trip.

So our big thing on Day 2 was attending Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!  That party ticket is a separate ticket into Magic Kingdom so we were extra crafty and did not use one of our five day tickets on this day.  We couldn't go into the party until 4:00 so we slept in (extra yay!) then went to Wilderness Lodge for breakfast at Whispering Canyon.  It was so good and relaxing.  We did a hidden Mickey scavenger hunt (image of Mickey heads hidden in strange places like mantles, carpet patterns, even stone work - pick up the list at the registration desk) and enjoyed being out of the crowds and the humidity for the morning.

We hadn't yet ridden the monorail so we boated over the Magic Kingdom from the Lodge and got on the monorail for a loop back to Magic Kingdom.  We'd heard many things about the monorail - the most being that it always breaks down.  Well, it did not disappoint!  We broke down at the Polynesian Resort stop so we off-loaded and went in the resort and got a Dole-Whip then boated over to Magic Kingdom and grabbed a bus back to the hotel with plenty of time to change and bus back to Magic Kingdom for the party! Whew!  Not exciting but we saw more of the whole Disney World complex than we thought we would so that was a good (and not stressed) thing.

Weenie ride!  Notice that my eyes aren't closed!

Yes - it is the Merry-Go-Round!

Decorations through out the park are so fun - not scary at all but you know it's Halloween!

Spinning teacups - a flashback to my favorite ride at the county fair years ago.

What a great time we had!  The costumes were unbelievable, the crowd low and the temps perfect.  We rode everything we wanted but avoided those long lines that are our FastPass rides on Thursday.  Nice to have been able to just wander thru the park with no time table.  Loved our first time in the Magic Kingdom and closed down the park at midnight....stumbling out of the gates with all of the other exhausted ghouls.

A few more random photos - Enjoy!

Haunted Mansion!

Waiting for the parade - led by the Headless Horseman!!!

We did ride the People Mover and BuzzLightyear several times.  There just comes a time when you need to sit down!

The castle is magical.  I've heard it said but I didn't understand it until I saw it.
